First Grade Pets



Ms. Kathy's Pet Project group took a recent visit to Ms. Buffa's first grade classroom for a presentation on classroom pets. The first graders explained to the pre-k how to take care of a classroom pet and some facts about their classroom pets. The pre-k kids especially enjoyed their pet lizard.

Sra. Kathy grupo de proyecto tomó una reciente visita al primer grado de la Sra. Buffa aula para una ponencia sobre mascotas de la clase. Los alumnos de primer grado explicó a la educación pre-kindergarten cómo cuidar de una mascota salón de clases y algunos datos sobre animales de compañía de su clase. Los niños de pre-kindergarten gustó especialmente su lagarto del animal doméstico.

Ramps and Pathways #3



A big part of the kids ramps and pathways project is planning. The kids have created a routine where they come together to draw and discuss plans for their future construction. As a teacher I am pleased to see them incorporate literacy in their project as well as cooperative learning, perspective sharing, and discussion that lend to language and social development. -Mr. Nick

Una gran parte de las rampas de los niños y las vías del proyecto es la planificación. Los chicos han creado una rutina donde se reúnen para elaborar y discutir los planes para su futura construcción. Como profesor me complace ver que incorporar la alfabetización en su proyecto, así como el aprendizaje cooperativo, el intercambio de perspectivas, y la discusión que se prestan a la lengua y el desarrollo social. -Sr. Nick

Pre-k Pets!





The pre-k kids have been taking home the digital camera to take pictures of their pets for their on-going pet project with Ms. Kathy. The kids have enjoyed sharing stories about their pets and discussing ways to take care and have fun with pets.

Los niños de pre-kindergarten han llevándose a casa la cámara digital para tomarfotos de sus mascotas en su proyecto en marcha para mascotas con la Sra. Kathy.Los niños han disfrutado de compartir historias acerca de sus mascotas y discutirmaneras de cuidarse y divertirse con los animales domésticos.

Ramps and Pathways #2


This is a video of the children exploring the cove molding and marbles, we added cups and tunnels made from blocks this week. The children are really enjoying working in the ramps and pathways project.

Este es un video de los niños explorar la moldura cóncava y mármoles, hemos añadido tazas y túneles hechos de bloques de esta semana. Los niños están muy a gusto trabajando en el proyecto de rampas y caminos.

A colorful World



Our pre-k ladies today decided that they were going to paint this morning. They each had their own pieces of paper but quickly decided that they should all paint a picture then put it together to make one large painting. When I asked them about their work, Naila replied, "Mr. Nick we are painting a colorful world."

Nuestra educación pre-kindergarten de hoy las señoras decidieron que iban a pintaresta mañana. Cada uno tenía sus propias piezas de papel, pero rápidamentedecidió que todos deben pintar un cuadro a continuación, poner juntos para haceruna pintura de gran tamaño. Cuando les pregunté sobre su trabajo, Naila respondió:"El Sr. Nick nos están pintando un mundo de colores".

Ramps and Pathways




A few of our children have started a project based on ramps and pathways. The children have shown an interest through out the year in making ramps and paths with blocks. This week we introduced pieces of cove molding and marbles to the children and watched as they explored the materials and started to form learning's about their experiences. Follow the blog as I will update the children's progress.

The Eiffel Tower




I brought a mini statue of the Eiffel tower in the classroom and sat it on the block shelf. As soon as we went into our center time the children were drawn to the replica tower. The kids have used it in their block play and discussed how it was built, giving detail to the levels and design used by Gustave Eiffel over 100 years ago. I thought it was really cool when Arelli found the Eiffel tower in a book and came to the conclusion that they were same. As the French would say, bon travail Areli

"The Butterfly Grass"


Melanee is working very hard on an art peice that she calls "The Butterfly Grass". Melanee used many colors and was very patient as she waited for the different layers of paint to dry before she started a new layer. This piece was inspired by a drawing the Melanee had done the day before.

Winter Perfomance


Here is a picture of our pre-k children performing in our schools winter musical. The kids did a wonderfull job and were very brave to perform in front of so many people.
